Job Summary:
A fast-growing crypto company based in Amsterdam is seeking a strategic and hands-on Data Protection Officer (DPO) to lead its data protection efforts across Europe. With a MiCAR license and a strong regulatory foundation, the company is scaling intentionally while maintaining a tight-knit culture focused on autonomy and integrity.
This role offers the opportunity to build privacy and governance frameworks from the ground up in a regulated crypto environment. The DPO will be responsible for shaping and executing the company's data protection strategy, ensuring compliance, and embedding privacy into business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the company's data protection strategy and governance (2nd line).
- Advise on GDPR, MiCAR, and cross-border privacy matters.
- Develop privacy policies, training programs, and tooling.
- Oversee PIAs/DPIAs and incident response processes.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate privacy into daily operations (1st line).
- Liaise with regulators and ensure ongoing compliance.
Key Requirements:
- Fluency in Dutch is required.
- Experience in privacy law, data protection, or compliance.
- Strong understanding of GDPR and European regulatory frameworks.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and build systems from scratch.
- Autonomous and proactive, with a senior mindset.
- Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Crypto experience is a plus, but not required.
- Suitable for Privacy Officers with ambition to grow into a DPO role.
- Consultancy profiles are not a fit-this is an embedded, ownership-driven position.
