Job Title: Dairy Trader (Physical Focus)

Overview
We are working with a leading commodity trading firm seeking a Dairy Trader with a strong focus on physical trading rather than screen-based/derivatives trading. This role is centered on originating, negotiating, and executing physical dairy flows across global markets, with full ownership of relationships, logistics, and P&L generation. The position offers flexibility on location and the opportunity to build and scale a trading book within a well-capitalised platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a physical dairy trading book across products including SMP, WMP, butter, cheese, whey, and liquid milk
- Originate trades directly with producers, cooperatives, processors, and end-users
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms for physical supply agreements
- Oversee end-to-end execution including logistics, freight, storage, and delivery timelines
- Build and maintain strong commercial relationships across supply and demand markets
- Identify regional and international arbitrage opportunities in physical flows
- Stay close to market fundamentals including production cycles, seasonality, weather, and trade flows
- Work closely with logistics, operations, and risk teams to ensure smooth execution
Requirements
- Proven experience in physical dairy trading (not purely screen/derivatives focused)
- Strong understanding of global dairy supply chains, trade flows, and logistics
- Established network across producers, cooperatives, and end-users
- Demonstrated track record of generating P&L through physical trading activity
- Commercial mindset with strong negotiation and relationship management skills
- Ability to operate autonomously and build a trading franchise
