Credit Research Associate - High Yield
Our client is looking to add a Fundamental Credit Research Associate to join a collaborative fixed income investment team focused on high-yield corporate credit. This role offers hands-on exposure to bottom-up credit analysis and the opportunity to work closely with experienced investors in supporting investment decision-making across the portfolio.
As a Research Associate, you'll partner directly with portfolio managers and senior analysts to evaluate investment opportunities and monitor existing positions. Your work will span detailed company and industry analysis, financial modeling, relative value work, and ongoing credit surveillance. You'll contribute throughout the investment lifecycle-supporting idea generation, underwriting, and portfolio management-while gradually taking on increased responsibility as you develop in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research on corporate issuers and related industries within the high-yield credit universe
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and credit analyses
- Support investment thesis development, relative value assessments, and capital structure analysis
- Track portfolio holdings and identify risk and opportunity developments
- Coordinate and participate in meetings with company management teams, sell-side analysts, and industry experts
- Develop clear charts, exhibits, and written materials to communicate investment insights
- Collaborate closely with investment professionals and research peers in a team-oriented environment
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in credit research, with exposure to corporate credit preferred (high-yield experience a plus)
- Strong interest in pursuing a long-term career in fundamental credit and fixed income investing
- Solid foundation in financial statement analysis, modeling, and credit evaluation
- Experience leveraging research tools such as Bloomberg, regulatory filings, sell-side research, and industry sources
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, high-expectation environment
- Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and comfort working with complex market and industry dynamics
