Communications Surveillance Analyst - High Frequency Trading
Communications Surveillance Analyst
Quantitative Investment Manager | London
We are partnering with a leading quantitative investment manager to hire a Communications Surveillance Analyst into its London Compliance team.
This is a hands-on surveillance role suited to a junior-to-mid-level candidate who can combine day-to-day alert review and investigations with the technical capability to develop, automate and improve surveillance tools and controls.
Important: This remains a genuinely hands-on alert review position, so candidates should be comfortable maintaining responsibility for day-to-day surveillance while also helping to technically enhance the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily reviews and investigations of electronic and voice communications alerts, including email, chat and messaging channels.
- Assess, document and escalate potential conduct concerns and surveillance findings.
- Develop and enhance surveillance alerts, scenarios, reports and controls, rather than purely reviewing existing alerts.
- Support the integration of new communications feeds and implementation of data-quality controls.
- Build reporting and MI packs to provide oversight of surveillance activity and emerging risks.
- Work closely with Compliance, Trading and Technology teams to improve surveillance processes and systems.
Key Experience Required
- 2+ years' relevant Communications Surveillance experience preferred. Exceptional candidates with around 12 months' experience may be considered where they possess particularly strong technical/Python capability.
- HFT experience is a key priority, ideally gained within a buy-side, hedge fund or quantitative trading environment.
- Hands-on experience reviewing and investigating electronic communications and voice surveillance alerts.
- Strong practical Python and data skills; SQL and experience using AI-assisted coding tools would be advantageous. Python, SQL and AI-assisted tools are also highlighted as beneficial in the underlying specification.
- Demonstrable experience building, developing or improving surveillance alerts, tools, controls or automation, rather than experience limited purely to alert review.
- Experience with data feeds, data-quality controls, custom alerts and reporting is highly advantageous.
- Global Relay experience would be beneficial.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with knowledge of market abuse or trade surveillance considered advantageous.
