Asset Management Associate | Residential Real Estate
Selby Jennings has partnered with a bespoke Investment Fund ($2Bn+ AUM) focused on residential real estate in San Francisco to bring an experienced Associate covering Asset Management to their growing team. This team as founded by senior memebers of an industry leading real esate investment group, and has seen rapid expansion off the success of their investment thesis.
This group is looking to add an Asset Management Associate working across accoutning, performance and analysis, forecasting, and budgeting, to manage a newly acquired portfolio.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for residential assets.
- Reconcile property-level financials with general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of income and expense allocations.
- Coordinate with property management teams and third-party accountants to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure compliance with loan covenants and investor reporting requirements.
Forecasting & Performance Analysis
- Develop and maintain financial models to forecast property performance, including rent growth, occupancy trends, and operating expenses.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted results, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions.
- Support scenario analysis and stress testing for portfolio-level decision-making.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare dashboards for internal stakeholders.
Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned assets, collaborating with property managers and internal teams.
- Evaluate capital expenditure plans and assist in prioritizing projects based on ROI and strategic goals.
- Support asset repositioning strategies, lease-up plans, and renovation underwriting.
- Contribute to long-term portfolio planning and investment strategy discussions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in real estate asset management, financial analysis, or accounting.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
