The Position
Our client is seeking an Associate to join its Alternative Credit team within a large global alternatives platform. The group invests across private credit and opportunistic equity structures, with exposure to consumer, commercial, residential, and structured credit markets. Investments include whole loans, warehouse facilities, asset-backed securities, structured credit, preferred equity, and platform financings.
This role offers significant responsibility across the full investment lifecycle, including sourcing, underwriting, execution, and portfolio management. The position provides direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to invest across the capital structure.
Title and level will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and execute private credit, structured investments, and select equity / hybrid opportunities across asset classes
- Source and screen new investment opportunities; develop investment theses and relative value views
- Lead diligence efforts, including financial modeling, collateral and cash flow analysis, downside and recovery scenarios, and structuring
- Coordinate third-party diligence and manage transaction timelines through closing
- Prepare investment committee materials and present recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Monitor and manage portfolio performance
- Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, accounting, and risk teams
- Support development of portfolio reporting tools, analytics, and internal processes
- Collaborate with broader investment teams to share insights and support platform initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with strong academic performance
- 3-7 years of experience in private credit, structured credit, specialty finance, investment banking, private equity, or a related field
- Strong financial modeling and underwriting capabilities; advanced Excel skills
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable investment views
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior stakeholders
- High level of ownership, attention to detail, and intellectual curiosity
- Collaborative mindset and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with asset-backed finance, structured products (ABS/warehouse), fund finance, or platform investing is a plus
- Comfort reviewing legal documentation is a plus
- Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and ability to leverage technology to enhance efficiency and decision-making
