Our client, a leading affordable housing investment manager, is seeking an Asset Manager to join its growing Portfolio Management team in Burlingame, CA. This individual will work closely with senior leadership and play a key role overseeing a nationwide portfolio of affordable housing investments.
The firm manages over $5.5 Billion in affordable housing-related investments and has helped finance tens of thousands of affordable housing units across the U.S. This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven platform with an established track record and sophisticated institutional capital partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor asset and portfolio performance, including financial reporting, operational metrics, and risk exposure.
- Partner with borrowers, servicers, property managers, and other stakeholders to drive asset-level performance.
- Conduct property reviews and site visits, identifying operational improvement opportunities and executing business plans.
- Oversee asset stabilization, capital projects, and post-closing asset management initiatives.
- Evaluate and implement strategies related to asset turnarounds, workouts, and dispositions.
- Monitor construction progress, lease-up, and operational transitions when applicable.
- Support broader portfolio management, asset oversight, and risk management efforts across multiple investment vehicles.
- Collaborate with leadership on process improvements and strategic initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of real estate asset management experience, ideally with affordable housing exposure.
- Familiarity with affordable housing programs such as LIHTC, HUD, and Project-Based Section 8.
- Strong financial analysis, Excel, and quantitative skills.
- Experience managing complex, transitional, distressed, or value-add real estate assets.
- Self-starter with strong judgment, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel as needed within the portfolio.
