Precious Metals Dealer
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Precious Metals Dealer (VP Level) to join a European International Bank. The successful candidate will manage trading activity across gold, silver, platinum, and other precious metals while supporting clients across Asia. This role requires strong market awareness, the ability to operate in fast-moving conditions, and proficiency in Mandarin to effectively interact with regional counterparts.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute, price, and manage trading activities across key precious metals, including gold, silver, and platinum.
- Provide real-time market pricing, manage client orders, and monitor risk exposures within defined trading limits.
- Conduct market analysis, trade booking, and ensure all activities comply with internal controls, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor global precious metals markets and economic trends to identify trading and hedging opportunities.
- Maintain and grow relationships with institutional clients, banks, refiners, wholesalers, and manufacturers across the region.
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and finance teams to ensure accurate trade settlement and reporting.
- Support 24-hour global trading coverage through shift work, including mid and night shifts, in a follow‑the‑sun model.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Fluent Mandarin (mandatory) with strong communication skills in English; Cantonese is an advantage.
- Ideally 8+ years of experience in precious metals trading, commodities dealing, or related financial markets.
- Strong understanding of pricing, forwards, swaps, hedging strategies, and physical/logistical flows.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a trading environment.
- Proficiency with Excel and trading/market data platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters, SGE).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and risk awareness.
