Our client is a leading integrated petrochemicals company with large-scale manufacturing operations and a growing international trading presence. Based in Singapore, the team serves as a key commercial hub for regional and global trading activities, offering exposure to physical trading, market development, origination, and risk management across a broad range of petrochemical products within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of petrochemical supply-demand fundamentals, trade flows, and market trends to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Formulate and execute market development plans for new petrochemical trading initiatives, from strategy design through implementation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, consumers, distributors, and trading counterparties across global markets.
  • Execute physical petrochemical transactions under both spot and long-term contractual arrangements.
  • Expand third-party trading activities while supporting and enhancing asset-backed commercial strategies.
  • Manage price exposure through hedging activities and contribute to the development of proprietary paper trading strategies over time.
  • Take ownership of the commercial performance and profitability of the assigned trading portfolio.
  • Partner with market analysis teams to enhance forecasting capabilities, pricing models, and trading intelligence tools.
  • Work closely with operations, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure efficient post-trade execution.
  • Identify, structure, negotiate, and execute profitable trade opportunities while strengthening key customer and supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with risk management teams to monitor positions, exposures, and compliance with trading limits.
  • Engage with related commodity desks to leverage market intelligence and uncover cross-product trading opportunities.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of trading experience with track records within the petrochemical industry
  • Exposure to one or more petrochemical product segments, with a solid understanding of regional market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with chemical logistics, including bulk and packaged shipments, ISO tanks, drums, and related supply chain processes.
  • Established industry network with the ability to originate business opportunities and develop commercial relationships.
  • Strong interest in physical trading, business development, and market origination, with aspirations to grow into a larger commercial role.
  • Quantitative and analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Self-driven, entrepreneurial, and capable of working independently in a fast-moving trading environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and commodity trading/risk management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively within an international and multicultural organisation.
  • Strong command of English; additional Asian language capabilities would be advantageous.
