Operational Risk Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Operational Risk Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk Management team within the banking sector. This role is critical in enhancing the bank's operational risk framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations, and supporting a strong risk culture across the institution. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of banking operations, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution and enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) in alignment with regulatory standards (e.g., OCC, FRB, Basel III).
  • Conduct advanced risk assessments, including Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), scenario analysis, and control testing across business lines.
  • Monitor and analyze Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and operational loss data to identify emerging risks and trends.
  • Oversee the operational risk event/loss data collection process and ensure timely root cause analysis and remediation tracking.
  • Partner with business units, compliance, audit, and IT to evaluate and strengthen internal controls.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Prepare and present risk reports and dashboards to senior management, risk committees, and regulators.
  • Contribute to the bank's risk appetite framework and stress testing initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry best practices in operational risk.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • 5-8 years of experience in operational risk within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of banking products, services, and operational processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., OCC Heightened Standards, Basel III, SOX).
  • Proficiency in risk management tools and platforms (e.g., Archer, MetricStream, OpenPages).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
