This is an opportunity for someone coming from a public equities/sell-side equity research background who is looking to transition into a broader private markets and strategic research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of thematic investment frameworks, identifying long-term trends, market disruptions, and sector-level opportunities primarily within the industrials ecosystem.
  • Conduct deep-dive research into companies, subsectors, and supply chains using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Build and maintain industry maps, competitive analyses, and market-sizing models.
  • Partner directly with senior investment leadership to shape the firm's investment theses, sourcing angles, and strategic focus areas.
  • Track key macroeconomic, regulatory, and technological developments impacting industrials.
  • Prepare research presentations, white papers, and internal insights to support pipeline development and portfolio strategy.
  • Engage with industry experts, management teams, and external data providers to deepen sector intelligence.
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis related to firm strategy, portfolio monitoring, and new investment themes.

Qualifications

  • 3-6+ years of experience in equity research, investment research, or a strategy/consulting role with heavy research exposure.
  • Strong familiarity with industrials or adjacent sectors (e.g., manufacturing, distribution, specialty materials, industrial services).
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong writing and presentation abilities - able to produce polished reports and distill key themes for senior stakeholders.
  • Self-starter mindset with high intellectual curiosity and the ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or certifications (CFA, MBA) are a plus but not required.
