Head of Custody Product (Crypto)
Overview
Our client (leading crypto exchange) is looking for a seasoned product leader to take ownership of an institutional custody offering - a foundational component of their long-term strategy as a regulated digital asset platform. This role goes beyond traditional product management. They are looking for someone with deep domain expertise in custody and institutional finance who can shape a secure, scalable, and compelling product.
The ideal candidate may have transitioned between business and product roles - perhaps starting in business development, client solutions, or sales engineering, and moving into product leadership. The client is looking for a hybrid operator who can fluently navigate both business and technical conversations, and who can build a custody solution that institutions trust and adopt.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full product lifecycle for the institutional custody platform - from vision and strategy to execution and iteration.
- Understand the needs of institutional clients (e.g., exchanges, asset managers, market makers, family offices) and design solutions that meet their operational and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Compliance, Engineering, and Operations to deliver secure, compliant, and user-centric custody services.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and technologies (e.g., MPC, HSM, segregated accounts) and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape.
- Partner with Business Development to shape go-to-market strategies and support client engagements with product expertise.
- Drive product-market fit by identifying monetization opportunities, supporting pricing strategies, and aligning product direction with business goals.
- Build and lead a small, high-impact product team, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
Requirements
- High level of experience in product or client-facing roles within institutional crypto custody or digital asset infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of institutional custody workflows, compliance standards (e.g., KYC, asset segregation), and custody technologies (MPC, HSM, multi-sig).
- Business-savvy: you understand who the buyers are, what they need, and how to build solutions they'll pay for.
- Experience working directly with institutional clients to gather insights and translate them into product priorities.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to work across legal, compliance, engineering, and sales teams.
- Proven track record of delivering secure, B2B fintech or crypto products.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin for internal and external communications.
