Fund Accountant
Position Summary
The Junior Fund Accountant will support the accounting and financial reporting functions across multiple investment vehicles and client structures. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, CPA-eligible professional with early fund accounting experience who is looking to grow within a high-caliber investment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly and quarterly fund closes for private investment vehicles and managed accounts
- Prepare and review journal entries, cash reconciliations, and general ledger activity
- Support capital call and distribution calculations, investor allocations, and waterfall models
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Coordinate with external administrators, auditors, and tax advisors
- Review investment activity, including trade settlements, subscriptions, redemptions, and valuation support
- Maintain accurate investor records and capital account statements
- Support audit requests and year-end reporting processes
- Help improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and documentation
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 1-2 years of experience in fund accounting, public accounting, investment management, or family office environment
- CPA-eligible (exams passed or actively pursuing preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and investment accounting principles
- Experience with private funds, partnerships, or alternative investments strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Excel (lookups, pivot tables, basic financial models)
- Experience with fund accounting or general ledger systems (e.g., Advent, Yardi, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
- Ability to work with large datasets and maintain high data accuracy
- Familiarity with capital accounts, NAV calculations, and investor reporting is a plus
