ETF Trading and Execution Analyst
A quantitatively driven trading organisation is expanding its Institutional ETF Execution function and is hiring an Execution Analyst to support live trading, post-trade analysis, and ongoing automation. This is a front-office, desk-based role in a high-tempo environment where accuracy matters and strong judgement is required.
You'll operate at the intersection of markets, data, and stakeholders-owning execution workflows end-to-end, analysing trading outcomes, and building lightweight tools that improve monitoring and reduce manual effort. While the role includes interaction with institutional counterparts, it is execution and analytics-led rather than sales-led.
Live Execution & Trade Ownership
- Price, agree, and execute ETF trades with institutional counterparts using structured internal pricing logic.
- Partner with trading colleagues to ensure clean, correct outcomes in fast-moving markets.
- Manage the full trade life cycle: pre-trade coordination → execution → post-trade checks, queries, and resolution.
- Operate in a time-sensitive environment where discipline and precision are essential-small errors can carry real consequences.
Execution Quality & Data-Driven Insight
- Review trading and operational data to diagnose inefficiencies, identify recurring issues, and improve execution quality.
- Produce clear, data-backed summaries to support internal decision-making and help explain outcomes to counterparties.
- Contribute to scalable desk processes and controls that increase reliability as volumes grow.
Automation, Monitoring & Workflow Optimisation
- Build small scripts and tools to automate repeatable tasks, enhance monitoring, and reduce manual processing.
- Improve alerting, reporting, and operational transparency using structured datasets and simple analytical workflows.
- Work closely with technology/development partners to implement improvements and strengthen desk tooling.
Stakeholder & Client Communication
- Support institutional client conversations alongside coverage teams-answering technical/operational questions and explaining execution outcomes.
- Coordinate across trading, operations, sales, and technology, aligning priorities and driving clarity when situations are ambiguous.
Essential
- Strong quantitative problem-solving skills and comfort working with numbers under time pressure.
- Practical Python proficiency (beginner to intermediate) with evidence of using it for analysis, automation, or workflow tooling.
- Confidence working with structured data sets and producing accurate, repeatable outputs.
- Strong attention to detail, process discipline, and ownership mindset in live environments.
- Clear communication skills to explain analytical findings and execution outcomes concisely.
Beneficial
- Exposure to financial markets (trading, execution, middle office, trade support, or trading analytics).
- Knowledge of ETFs (helpful but can be learned on the job).
- Additional European language skills (useful given an institutional client base). Why This Role
- Front-office seat with real responsibility across execution, analytics, and process improvement.
- High-impact work improving execution outcomes and desk tooling.
- A strong platform to build expertise across market microstructure, ETF execution, and trading analytics.
