About the Role
My client, a rapidly growing insurtech innovator in the Property & Casualty (P&C) space, is seeking an experienced E&S Underwriter with a strong focus on Product and Risk. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of underwriting strategy, product development, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Risk Evaluation
- Assess complex E&S submissions across multiple lines, including property, casualty, and professional liability.
- Utilize advanced data tools and analytics to evaluate risk quality and pricing adequacy.
- Make sound underwriting decisions on coverage terms, limits, and endorsements.
Product Innovation
- Collaborate with product, actuarial, and compliance teams to develop and launch new E&S products.
- Monitor regulatory and market trends to identify emerging opportunities.
- Contribute to filing strategies and ensure adherence to E&S regulatory requirements.
Portfolio & Performance Management
- Analyze underwriting performance and loss trends to inform strategy.
- Recommend changes to appetite, pricing, and guidelines to optimize profitability.
- Support reinsurance strategy and risk aggregation analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with distribution partners and brokers to understand market needs.
- Provide internal training and support on underwriting tools and product features.
- Represent underwriting in cross-functional initiatives, including automation and AI integration.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of E&S underwriting experience in P&C lines.
- Strong knowledge of product development and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working with insurtech platforms, underwriting automation, or data analytics is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, or related field; CPCU or RPLU preferred.
