Data Sourcing Analyst (FTC)
Our client, an esteemed alternative investment manager, is looking for an Data Sourcing Analyst to join their global Data and AI organisation. This group plays a central role in delivering diverse data resources, both conventional and alternative to investment teams across the firm. Operating at the intersection of technology, data, and investment research, the team works to broaden data availability, enhance evaluation frameworks, and strengthen the firm's ability to extract meaningful insights from large and varied data sets.
You will be responsible for overseeing key stages of the data acquisition and commercial negotiation lifecycle, ensuring that new and existing datasets deliver measurable value to investment teams. You will support sourcing efforts, participate in vendor evaluations, manage licensing processes, and help drive cost‑efficiency initiatives across the business. The role requires working at pace, managing multiple stakeholders including senior business leaders, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. You'll have meaningful autonomy to lead discussions, structure commercial terms, and represent the organisation in negotiations with major data providers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the end‑to‑end process of identifying, assessing, and onboarding new data sources that meet the needs of investment teams.
- Lead trial and licensing processes involving research teams, portfolio managers, compliance, and legal stakeholders.
- Negotiate commercial terms with external data providers to ensure optimal value and favourable conditions.
- Identify and drive opportunities for cost optimisation across existing data spend.
- Respond to internal inquiries related to data usage or licensing considerations and provide commercially informed guidance.
- Produce and maintain data‑related dashboards, reports, and performance metrics.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in procurement, commercial management, or a similar function within a data‑driven environment.
- Familiarity with major market data vendors and the broader data ecosystem.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage strong stakeholder relationships.
- Experience engaging with senior leadership and influencing commercial outcomes.
