Overview:
A top-tier private equity firm focused on technology and software is looking to add a Business Development Associate to support their outbound deal sourcing strategy. This role is essential to assist the firm in identifying relevant investment opportunities in a competitive landscape. You'll work closely with the Head of Business Development, investment professionals, and portfolio companies to uncover and engage companies aligned with the firms investment thesis.
The Business Development Associate will be responsible for:
- Maintain coverage of hundreds of companies that fit the firms investment profile
- Define and map specific technology and software segments through research
- Identify and qualify new potential investments within targeted segments
- Use technology tools to aggregate and analyze market and company data
- Prospect via email, LinkedIn, phone, and other channels to engage executives and founders
- Rapidly assess investment opportunities and prioritize outreach
- Collaborate with investment and operations teams to identify add-on acquisition targets for portfolio companies
- Build and nurture a network of industry contacts and intermediaries
- Support live due diligence efforts through market research and expert interviews
The Business Development Associate should have:
- 0-3 years of relevant experience (e.g., private equity, venture capital, investment banking, consulting, software sales, or business development)
- Extremely ambitious, competitive, and self-motivated with a strong desire to achieve goals
- Scrappy, humble, and intellectually curious with high attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a natural ability to build relationships and "sell"
- Strong analytical mindset and comfort working with data
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM and marketing automation tools is a plus
- Bachelor's degree required with outstanding academic and professional performance
