Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager (CPA) | Nashville, TN (In-Office) | Confidential Search

A Nashville-based financial services firm is hiring an Accounting Manager to join a lean, growing finance team. This is a hands-on, high-ownership opportunity for someone who wants visibility, responsibility, and the ability to improve processes as the business scales. You will work closely with leadership, take real ownership of close and reporting, and help strengthen the controls and routines that support a fast-moving organization.

The Opportunity

This role is best suited for an accounting professional who enjoys operating in a smaller team environment where execution matters, ideas are welcomed, and your work directly impacts decision-making. If you are tired of being siloed and want broader exposure, this is a strong next step.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own core components of the month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and variance explanations
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear documentation
  • Maintain and improve balance sheet integrity by tightening reconciliation cadence, support files, and review controls
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen internal controls, standardize processes, and improve the quality of reporting
  • Support accounting needs tied to a lending-oriented environment; familiarity with equipment finance or similar concepts is helpful but not required
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, implementing better workflows, and bringing a builder mindset to the team

Qualifications

  • 4 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within financial services
  • CPA required (or actively on track to complete)
  • Strong U.S. GAAP foundation and a proven ability to manage close responsibilities end-to-end
  • High ownership mindset, strong work ethic, and comfort operating in a smaller team where you are expected to deliver
  • Clear communicator who can partner with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Nashville-based or willing to relocate; the role is in-office
