Hong Kong Financial Services Business Support Salary Guide 2026

Heading into 2027, Business Support roles in Hong Kong financial services are becoming more varied, and so are the factors that determine pay. Executive support, workplace management, business services and COO office positions may sit within the same function, but the market values each according to a different combination of access, judgement and operational responsibility.
Administrative support, executive partnership, workplace management and COO office roles sit alongside one another, but they are rewarded financially for different reasons.
The benchmarks below help employers set competitive ranges when hiring Business Support professionals in Hong Kong, while giving professionals a clearer view of how their experience and responsibilities are being valued.
Executive support pay rises with complexity, not volume
The better paid executive support positions are not necessarily those with the longest task lists. Compensation tends to rise when the role requires judgement: deciding what reaches the executive, maintaining momentum across competing priorities and handling sensitive information without constant direction.
This is why the Executive Assistant market spans such a broad range. Supporting one regional leader with investor exposure, board commitments and several time zones is a different proposition from supporting a larger team within an established administrative structure. The difference lies in the operating environment, not simply the number of diaries managed.
Executive Business Partner roles take that distinction further. The title is most credible when the individual owns information flow, prepares decisions, follows through on leadership priorities and coordinates work across functions. It should not be used merely to rebrand a conventional Executive Assistant position.
Personal Assistant roles form another market again. Support for a founder, principal or family office may move between corporate, personal and household matters, often with fewer boundaries around time and availability. The salary needs to account for the full working arrangement, not only the duties listed in the job description.
Office management is developing an operational career path
The more senior end of office management now extends well beyond facilities and administration. Workplace strategy, office openings, regional premises, capital expenditure, vendor governance and service delivery can place the role much closer to business operations.
That shift explains the emergence of Workplace Experience, Business Services, Corporate Services and COO Office titles. Although the boundaries vary by firm, these positions are usually rewarded for ownership of an operating platform rather than responsibility for a physical office alone.
Progression therefore depends on the scale of what has been managed. Multi office coverage, substantial budgets, complex supplier relationships and delivery of high consequence projects provide stronger evidence of seniority than team size in isolation.
The financial services premium is concentrated in high trust roles
For Business Support roles, the premium that comes with the financial services industry is most evident where the position sits close to investment or banking leadership, handles commercially sensitive information or carries responsibility for activity that cannot be allowed to fail. Sector experience is often less valuable when the role is highly standardised and the skills transfer readily from another industry.
Employer type changes the working model as well as the salary
The higher buy side ranges in the tables reflect more than a general willingness to pay. Many asset managers, private equity firms and hedge funds operate with smaller support teams, closer access to founders or investment leaders and less separation between executive support and business operations.
That structure can create broader roles and faster access to decision makers, but it may also bring greater availability requirements, less backup and more discretion around responsibilities. Sell side institutions can remain attractive through clearer grading, established coverage models and more predictable routes for progression.
