Key Responsibilities
- Make final credit decisions and perform rating assessments, applying deep subject‑matter expertise.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of specialised counterparties and exposures, ensuring early identification and mitigation of credit deterioration, including scenario and stress testing analysis.
- Partner closely with front‑office teams to balance revenue generation with strong risk discipline-identifying, investigating, mitigating, and managing downside risks.
- Participate in early-stage deal evaluation, including sponsor, borrower, and transaction due diligence, applying strong analytical judgement to structure complex transactions to top-tier underwriting standards.
- Deliver periodic portfolio reviews, sector assessments, and risk insights to senior stakeholders across the business and risk functions.
- Establish, refine, and communicate risk control frameworks to ensure the portfolio remains aligned with the organisation's risk appetite.
Skills and Experience
- Proven ability to form well‑reasoned credit views under time pressure, even with incomplete information.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective engagement of borrowers, sponsors, and other counterparties.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities, both written and verbal.
- Thorough knowledge of lending documentation and credit agreements.
- Ability to assess a wide variety of counterparties, asset classes, and credit scenarios.
- Proficiency in performing and interpreting stress tests and scenario analyses.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex credit situations within a specialised finance or related environment.
- Significant front‑line risk management experience within a leading financial institution, ideally covering similar product areas.
- Strong track record in managing risk across varied geographies, industries, and structured finance products.
- Deep understanding of credit risk, financial analysis, and transaction structuring for single‑name credit exposures-typically gained within an investment bank, structured finance team, or similar global organisation.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Awareness of relevant regulatory frameworks and expectations in the markets in which the institution operates.
- Extensive relationship management experience, including interaction with senior external stakeholders such as regulators.
