Position Title: Senior Marine Fuels Trader
Role Overview:
Responsible for the purchase and sale of marine fuels to vessels, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and clients, negotiating contracts, and managing the logistics of fuel delivery. Staying updated on market trends, pricing, and managing financial and operational risks are key aspects. This position requires strong negotiation skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct back-to-back marine fuel trading activities.
- Develop and canvass new customers, including ship owners, operators, and charterers.
- Leverage internal resources for sourcing supply.
- Oversee the entire supply chain and trade cycle, from loading and operations to delivery and payments.
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments.
- Provide daily market indications and pricing to internal teams and clients.
- Record and follow up on all trade-related activities and associated payments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of enquiries and deals using spreadsheets and company systems.
- Achieve set KPIs and monthly targets.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- 2-3 year's experience in marine fuel trading or a related maritime industry role.
- Strong understanding of vessel operations, fuel specifications, and international bunkering regulations.
- Proven negotiation skills with suppliers and clients.
- Knowledge of financial markets, risk management, and market analysis.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices for pollution prevention in the maritime sector.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, "round-the-clock" trading environment.
- Strong compliance orientation and organisational skills.
- Excellent timekeeping and record-keeping abilities.
