Senior Accountant
My client, a leading provider of life, annuities, and property & casualty insurance is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. This role offers exposure to complex investment accounting and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements in a dynamic environment.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing and reviewing accounting activities related to investments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role supports month-end and year-end close processes, ensures compliance with GAAP and statutory requirements, and partners with internal teams to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform custody reconciliations, cash management, payables and receivables, and investment accounting.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures for audits and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
- Assist in implementing process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within insurance or investment accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP; statutory accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience with reconciliations and investment products (hedge funds, stocks, bonds).
- Proficiency in accounting systems and MS Office; familiarity with Clearwater or similar platforms is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
