Quantitative Data Strategist/Developer

A multi-strategy hedge fund in New York is hiring a Quantitative Developer / Data Analyst to join a consistently profitable trading team. The Portfolio Manager you'll support has never had a down month in 25 years of trading - a rare track record that speaks to the rigor, discipline, and edge of the strategy. Now, he's expanding his team to bring on a data-driven developer who can help scale and optimize the infrastructure behind that success.

This is a hands-on role that blends quant development, data engineering, and trade support. You'll work directly with the PM and trading team to build tools, clean and process large datasets, and contribute to model development. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys solving complex data problems, wants to learn new technologies like KDB and Java, and is excited to work in a high-performance, low-ego environment where your work directly impacts PnL.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean, process, and analyze large datasets to support trading decisions
  • Translate R code into Python and contribute to model development
  • Learn and apply KDB and Java for production-grade analytics
  • Collaborate with the PM and trading team to deliver scalable solutions
  • Support and enhance volatility estimation tools and workflows

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3-5 years of experience in software development or data analysis
  • Strong programming skills in C++, Java, or Python
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Open to learning KDB and Java; familiarity with volatility estimation is a plus
