Pension Actuarial Consultant
Overview:
My client, a small and highly specialized actuarial consulting firm, is seeking a Multiemployer Pension Actuary to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a tight-knit group of professionals, providing actuarial services and strategic guidance to multiemployer pension plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pension actuarial work, particularly in the Taft-Hartley space, and a hands-on approach suited to a smaller firm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide actuarial consulting services to multiemployer (Taft-Hartley) pension plans, including annual valuations, funding projections, and experience studies.
- Prepare and review actuarial reports, government filings (e.g., Form 5500, Schedule SB), and benefit calculations.
- Support clients with plan design, funding strategy, and compliance with ERISA and PBGC regulations.
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly to trustees, union representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Stay current on regulatory developments and industry trends affecting multiemployer plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- ASA or EA designation required; FSA preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working with multiemployer pension plans.
- Strong understanding of ERISA, PBGC, and IRS regulations related to defined benefit plans.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and client service skills.
- Comfortable working in a small firm environment with a collaborative and hands-on approach.
