Job Title: Operations Associate (Fixed Income)

Location: NYC (hybrid)

Salary: $100k - $130k + Bonus

Summary:

This is a unique opportunity with a leading Hedge Fund looking to add Operations talent to their Trade Operations and Middle Office function. The position offers broad exposure across fixed income products and exchange-traded derivatives, partnering closely with portfolio managers and key stakeholder groups including risk, finance, technology, fund accounting, and settlements. The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a dynamic trading environment, taking ownership of operational processes and driving issues through to completion while supporting multiple investment teams.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Provide middle office support across fixed income and listed derivatives trading activities, ensuring accurate trade processing.
  • Oversee key trade lifecycle events, including maturities, expirations, coupon payments, resets, and corporate actions.
  • Research and resolve trade exceptions, booking errors, valuation discrepancies, and P&L-related issues.
  • Work alongside technology and operations groups to address system enhancements, operational risks, and process inefficiencies.
  • Perform daily reconciliations across positions, cash balances, and trading activity to ensure data integrity.
  • Analyze and resolve breaks between internal records and external counterparties, custodians, or prime brokers.
  • Assist with settlement management, including fail resolution and counterparty issue investigation.
  • Support operational management of fixed income products throughout their lifecycle, including rollovers, maturities, and rate resets.
  • Ensure all trade activity is captured accurately, documented appropriately, and reflected in downstream systems in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income markets, including rates, credit products, bonds, and exchange-traded derivatives.
  • Familiarity with trade lifecycle management, including coupon payments, maturities, expirations, corporate actions, and roll events.
  • Proven experience performing and investigating cash, position, and transaction reconciliations.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets and operational reporting.
  • Prior experience supporting multiple investment teams or strategies within a hedge fund environment is highly desirable.
