Junior Quantitative Developer - Volatility

I've partnered with a high-performing hedge fund that is seeking a Junior Quantitative Developer to join its NYC office. This is a hands-on role that blends programming, quantitative research support, and infrastructure development. You'll work closely with quant researchers and traders to optimize systems and drive innovation across the trading stack.

What You'll Work On

You'll split your time across three core areas:

  • Infrastructure Coding: Enhance and fine-tune backend systems including databases, AWS/Kubernetes, Docker/containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Research Coding: Scale and optimize the research stack, including backtesters, vol surface fitting tools, derivatives pricing libraries, and optimization frameworks.
  • Trading Coding: Build and maintain trading tools, such as dashboards, auto-scheduling jobs, and real-time data pipelines.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong programming skills, primarily in Python, with exposure to C++, KDB, SQL, or JavaScript a plus
  • Basic understanding of quantitative finance, particularly volatility and options
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS), containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD practices
  • A team player who can collaborate with quants, traders, and engineers to drive research and infra improvements
  • 1-3 years of experience in software engineering, quant research, or trading environments
