We are partnered with a Global Hedge Fund who are seeking a highly driven Junior Equity Research Analyst (1-3 years' experience) to join a successful investment team covering the Building Materials and Defence sectors across Europe and/or North America.
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious investor to work alongside an experienced Portfolio Manager within their fast-paced fundamental equities platform, developing deep industry expertise while contributing directly to investment recommendations and portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental company analysis across the Building Materials and Defence sectors
- Build and maintain detailed financial models
- Generate actionable long and short investment ideas
- Analyse company strategy, market positioning, competitive dynamics and industry trends
- Meet management teams, industry experts and sell-side analysts
- Monitor news flow, earnings, channel checks and alternative data sources
- Present investment recommendations directly to the Portfolio Manager
- Contribute to portfolio risk management and position monitoring
Candidate Profile
- 1-3 years of experience in either:
- Investment Banking (M&A or industry coverage teams)
- Equity Research (buy-side or sell-side)
- Hedge Fund or Long-Only Equity Investing
- Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
- Demonstrated interest in public markets and investing
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Intellectual curiosity and a genuine passion for understanding businesses
- Strong communication skills and ability to defend investment views with conviction
- Ability to thrive in a high-performance, meritocratic environment
Ideal Backgrounds
- Analyst in an Industrials, Capital Goods, Aerospace & Defence or Building Materials investment banking team
- Buy-side or sell-side equity research analyst covering industrials, building products, construction, engineering, aerospace or defence
- Candidates with direct sector knowledge are preferred, although exceptional generalist investors will also be considered
