Company Overview:
A fast-growing international trading house is seeking a driven and commercially astute Physical Commodity Trader to join its London-based team. The company specializes in the global trade of agricultural commodities and feed ingredients, with a strong presence across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Role Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding a trading book focused on non-grain feed ingredients (such as soybean meal, corn gluten, palm kernel) and wheat, with a particular emphasis on corn by-products and raw material sugar/beef. This is a hands-on trading role requiring strong market instincts, execution capabilities, and a deep understanding of physical commodity flows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a single P&L trading book with full accountability for performance.
- Source and trade physical commodities including soybean meal, corn gluten, palm kernel, wheat, and related by-products.
- Develop and maintain supplier and customer relationships across global markets.
- Execute trades with a strong understanding of shipping contracts, logistics, and execution processes.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics to identify trading opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams including logistics, finance, and risk to ensure smooth trade execution.
Candidate Profile:
- 2-4 years of experience in physical commodity trading, ideally in feed ingredients or wheat.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping terms, contracts (e.g., GAFTA, FOSFA), and logistics.
- Proven ability to manage a trading book and deliver consistent P&L results.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to market development.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Based in London or willing to relocate.
