Equity Analyst | L/S Hedge Fund | Shanghai based
Our client is seeking an analytical, intellectually curious, fundamental-driven Equity Analyst to join the public investment team. The ideal candidate has strong fundamental research capabilities, the ability to generate differentiated investment insights, and a genuine passion for public markets. This role works closely with the Portfolio Manager to drive alpha generation across long / short ideas.

Key Responsibilities
Investment Research & Idea Generation
- Conduct in‑depth fundamental research on assigned sectors or companies, including financial modeling, valuation, competitive analysis, channel checks, and industry mapping.
- Generate high‑conviction long and short ideas with clear catalysts, risk assessment, and expected return framework.
- Monitor industry trends, corporate developments, and macro factors that influence investment theses.
- Prepare written research, presentations, and trade rationales for internal discussions and Portfolio Manager review.
- Sector focus: Semi, Consumer, Manufacturing;
Portfolio Contribution
- Actively track portfolio names and provide timely insights on earnings, corporate actions, and alternative data signals.
- Assist in position sizing, risk budgeting, and ongoing thesis updates.
- Work closely with PM on idea implementation, including entry/exit levels, risk‑reward timing, and hedging considerations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in investment meetings, pitching actionable ideas and defending thesis under scrutiny.
- Work with operations, risk, and compliance teams to ensure accurate trade implementation and documentation.
