Conusmer Portfolio Manager - L/S Equity
We are partnering with a high-performing hedge fund firm that is expanding its equities business and looking to appoint a Consumer Portfolio Manager in London.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a Consumer strategy, leading investment activity across the sector and managing a fundamental equity long/short portfolio. The role offers meaningful capital from the outset, alongside the opportunity to increase the allocation and build a dedicated team over time.
The firm has ambitious expansion plans, established infrastructure and genuine room for the incoming PM to develop a significant franchise.
The opportunity
- Lead investment activity and sector coverage across the Consumer universe
- Manage a fundamental equity long/short portfolio focused on idiosyncratic alpha generation
- Take full ownership of idea generation, portfolio construction and risk management
- Access meaningful capital with the potential to scale based on performance
- Build out a dedicated team as the strategy develops
- Play an important role in the continued expansion of the wider equities business
The profile
- Extensive experience investing across Consumer equities
- Existing Portfolio Manager, Sub-PM or exceptional senior analyst with the capability to assume portfolio responsibility
- Strong record of generating differentiated long and short ideas
- Deep understanding of Consumer companies, industry dynamics and the key drivers of earnings
- Disciplined and repeatable investment process
- Strong portfolio construction, position-sizing and risk-management capabilities
- Ability to generate consistent returns across different market environments
- Ambition to lead and build a significant Consumer franchise
