Consumer Analyst (L/S)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and driven Investment Analyst to join a top Long/Short Consumer Equity team. This role focuses on identifying and executing alpha-generating investment ideas across the consumer landscape. The analyst will be responsible for deep fundamental research, financial modeling, and idea generation across sub-sectors such as retail, consumer staples, discretionary, e-commerce, food & beverage, and health & wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bottom-up fundamental research on public consumer companies across multiple sub-sectors, excluding GLL.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuation frameworks.
- Generate differentiated long and short investment ideas with clear catalysts and risk/reward profiles.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic factors impacting consumer behavior.
- Prepare and present investment theses to portfolio managers and senior investment team members.
- Collaborate with other analysts and PMs to refine ideas and manage portfolio risk.
- Utilize alternative data sources, expert networks, and proprietary tools to enhance research insights.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year on the buyside at a L/S fund covering Consumer names.
- Strong modeling, analytical, and valuation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to generate actionable investment ideas.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High level of intellectual curiosity and commercial acumen.
- Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet) and alternative data tools.
