About the Firm

We are a specialized asset management firm focused on event-driven investment strategies within the municipal bond market, complemented by exposure to debt investments and real estate partnership structures. The firm manages a diverse set of investment vehicles and works closely with external fund administrators, trustees, and service providers. We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee and elevate all financial, accounting, and operational functions.


Position Overview

The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the overall financial management of the firm and its investment products. This includes strategic financial planning, fund accounting oversight, regulatory reporting, and coordination with external service providers. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in asset management, municipal bond investments, structured debt, and real estate partnership financials, with a track record of working effectively alongside fund administrators.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the firm's financial strategy aligned with its event‑driven investment approach.
  • Provide financial insights to support investment decisions across municipal bonds, debt instruments, and real‑estate related investments.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long‑term capital planning.

Fund Accounting & Operations

  • Lead all fund-level financial operations, including NAV reviews, valuation oversight, capital account allocations, and performance reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external fund administrators to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment for municipal bonds, distressed debt, structured credit, and real estate partnerships.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Oversee regulatory filings, audit processes, and compliance with SEC, FINRA, IRS, and other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Manage annual fund audits and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and risk management frameworks across all funds and corporate entities.

Treasury, Cash Management & Financing

  • Oversee cash management, credit facilities, liquidity planning, and treasury operations.
  • Support financing strategies related to debt investments and real estate partnership structures.

Corporate Finance & Internal Reporting

  • Lead all corporate accounting, payroll, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Deliver timely financial reports, KPIs, and strategic insights to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support investor relations through the preparation of financial materials and investor reporting.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience within asset management, hedge funds, private credit, or related investment firms.
  • Deep knowledge of municipal bonds, event-driven strategies, and complex debt instruments.
  • Direct experience with real estate partnerships, including capital structures, waterfalls, and tax considerations.
  • Strong track record working with fund administrators and overseeing fund accounting processes.
  • Expertise in U.S. GAAP, investment fund accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA or CFA strongly preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience with distressed municipal credits or special situations strategies.
  • Background in multi‑fund structures, master-feeder models, or closed‑end fund structures.
  • Prior involvement in building or upgrading financial systems, reporting platforms, and operational workflows.
