Vice President / Director, Originations
A growing private credit investment platform is seeking a Vice President or Director of Originations to join its expanding team in New York, NY. The firm specializes in providing flexible capital solutions to lower middle market businesses, partnering with private equity sponsors, independent sponsors, entrepreneurs, and management teams across a variety of industries.
This is an opportunity to join a highly entrepreneurial and collaborative platform at an exciting stage of growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the firm's sourcing strategy, expanding its market presence, and helping drive the next phase of growth for the business. Unlike larger, more institutionalized platforms, this role offers meaningful responsibility, direct access to senior leadership, and the ability to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and develop new investment opportunities through relationships with private equity firms, independent sponsors, investment banks, consultants, and business owners
- Build and expand a network of referral sources across the lower middle market ecosystem
- Generate proprietary and off-market investment opportunities
- Cultivate long-term relationships with sponsors, intermediaries, and management teams
- Partner closely with senior investors throughout diligence, structuring, and execution processes
- Evaluate prospective transactions and present opportunities to the investment team
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and sponsor meetings
- Help drive business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of the platform
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in private credit, direct lending, business development, leveraged finance, sponsor finance, specialty finance, or a related field
- Demonstrated track record of sourcing and developing investment opportunities
- Existing relationships within the lower middle market private equity, independent sponsor, and intermediary community
- Strong understanding of credit underwriting, deal structures, and capital markets
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to help build and grow a platform
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with investment professionals
- Exceptional relationship management and communication skills
