Storage Engineer

We're working with a leading systematic trading firm that combines deep technical expertise with a data-driven approach to investing across global markets. Their infrastructure team plays a critical role in enabling high-performance research and trading, and they're now looking for a hands-on Storage Platform Engineer to help design, implement, and manage scalable storage solutions that support the firm's complex, data-intensive environment.

The Role:
As a key member of the infrastructure team, you'll collaborate closely with colleagues across Windows, UNIX, Networking, and Database platforms to architect and deliver shared storage solutions - spanning Windows and NFS file shares, high-performance SANs for database clusters, and more. You'll also lead the development of robust data backup strategies and contribute to the firm's broader business continuity planning.

This is a technically-focused, engineering-led role where you'll be involved in end-to-end solution design, vendor management, product evaluation, and hands-on implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy enterprise-grade storage systems to support trading and research workloads

  • Manage and optimise file sharing environments across SMB, NFS, and S3 protocols

  • Develop and maintain scalable data backup and recovery solutions

  • Collaborate across infrastructure teams to deliver resilient, performant platforms

  • Evaluate vendors and technologies to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions

  • Contribute to the firm's business continuity and disaster recovery planning

  • Maintain high standards of documentation and operational transparency

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in storage systems administration or platform engineering

  • Proven experience delivering and maintaining optimised enterprise storage environments

  • Strong understanding of file storage protocols (SMB, NFS, S3)

  • Solid background working with both Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Hands-on experience with backup technologies and strategies

  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where technology is central to the business. The firm fosters a culture of innovation, autonomy, and continuous improvement - with a strong focus on work-life balance and employee well-being.
