Senior Business Systems Analyst (Energy)

Selby Jennings has partnered with a long-tenured and leading Boston-based energy trading firm on a search for a new Senior Business Systems Analyst.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with asset managers, risk, compliance, and tech teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Support implementation, upgrades, and optimization of ETRM and Bid-To-Bill systems; identify opportunities for performance and compliance improvements.
  • Act as SME during project phases-requirements gathering, testing, UAT, and post-launch support.
  • Configure and support ETRM and Bid-To-Bill applications.
  • Manage application readiness for high-demand periods and evolving business needs.
  • Oversee data migrations and ensure system integrity across platforms.
  • Design and automate data workflows between ETRM and Bid-To-Bill systems to improve integration and accuracy.
  • Drive process improvements in trading, risk, and project management through automation.
  • Develop test cases, conduct system/UAT testing, and resolve defects.
  • Support traders with insights, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Build and test APIs for multi-platform integration.
  • Write clean, testable code and troubleshoot software issues.
  • Contribute to software development initiatives and provide technical input.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of IT experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ETRM platforms, especially in power and energy markets.
  • Experience with Bid-To-Bill platforms (e.g., PCI GenManager, Adapt2, PowerOptix).
  • Proficient in system integration, data management, and API development.
  • Skilled in Python, C#, SQL, and database/reporting tools.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with relational databases.
  • Knowledge of Azure (Logic Apps, Functions, Storage, DevOps).
  • Experience with Python package managers (Poetry, Anaconda).
  • Technical writing experience.
