Rust Developer (Digital Assets / Trading Platform)
A fast-growing fintech firm specialising in digital assets and derivatives technology is looking to expand its engineering team in APAC. Founded by a group of experienced professionals across trading, technology, and financial markets, the company is building a next-generation platform focused on options trading and advanced analytics.
This role sits within a core backend engineering team responsible for designing and building high-performance systems that support a digital assets trading platform. You will play a key role in shaping the architecture, improving system performance, and delivering reliable services that directly impact trading and analytics capabilities.
- Design and develop core backend services using Rust
- Architect scalable, high-performance systems for real-time data and trading workflows
- Optimise system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Contribute to the design of distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Work closely with product, infrastructure, and quant teams to deliver new features
- Implement monitoring, observability, and reliability best practices
- Drive continuous improvement in system design and development processes
- Strong proficiency in Rust, with experience building production-grade systems
- Solid computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, networking, OS, concurrency)
- Experience developing distributed systems or microservices architectures
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming frameworks in Rust (e.g. Tokio or similar)
- Experience with backend frameworks and ecosystem tools (e.g. Axum, Actix, Serde, Cargo)
- Hands-on experience with caching, messaging, or streaming technologies
- Strong understanding of system performance tuning and observability
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong ownership mindset with a focus on clean, maintainable code
- Experience working in trading, fintech, or digital assets environments
- Familiarity with real-time data processing or event-driven systems
- Exposure to high-performance or low-latency system design
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure or containerisation
