Overview:
Our client is a well-established investor, developer, and operator within North American energy markets, with a broad portfolio spanning generation, transmission, and emerging energy infrastructure. This position sits at the intersection of market analysis, trading support, and asset optimization. The individual will work closely with trading, commercial, and investment teams to evaluate opportunities, develop hedging strategies, and provide insight into evolving market conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct analysis of short- and long-term opportunities across power markets
- Support commercial oversight of operating assets, including coordination with third-party operators on bidding, fuel procurement, and outage planning
- Evaluate supply-demand fundamentals, pricing trends, and market structure to identify trading and hedging opportunities
- Assist in structuring transactions and supporting execution of trades and commercial agreements
- Partner with deal teams to assess revenue streams and risk exposure for potential investments
- Contribute to the development of hedging strategies across regions, focusing on power, capacity, and ancillary services markets
- Support risk management efforts through analysis of portfolio exposure and alignment with internal risk frameworks
- Apply statistical and quantitative techniques to large data sets to generate actionable insights
- Monitor market, industry, and pricing developments to inform strategy and decision making
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, finance, economics, or related discipline
- At least three years of experience in power markets
- Strong analytical and modeling capabilities, with experience using Python, SQL, or similar tools
- Familiarity with trading systems, market data platforms, or analytical tools
- Ability to manage multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate analysis into commercial insight
