Head of Operations - Chinese Hedge Fund
We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on Head of Operations to lead the operational function of a high-conviction, equity-focused investment firm. The role requires deep expertise in equity trade lifecycle management, strong leadership capabilities, and fluency in Mandarin to support regional coordination and communication with Greater China stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations across the equity trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Manage middle office functions such as P&L validation, risk exposure monitoring, and exception resolution.
- Partner closely with portfolio managers, traders, compliance, and finance to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 operations professionals, fostering a high-performance and control-oriented culture.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance scalability and reduce operational risk.
- Ensure compliance with SFC regulations and global best practices in operational risk and control.
- Support strategic initiatives including new market access, system enhancements, and vendor management.
- Act as a key liaison for Mandarin-speaking stakeholders across the region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in hedge fund or asset management operations, with a strong focus on equities.
- Proven leadership experience managing small to mid-sized teams.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks and control environments.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-performance investment environment.
