Cost Accountant

My client, a semiconductor manufacturer, is seeking a Cost Accountant to support cost accounting initiatives, financial reporting, month-end close, and audit readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze inventory accounting and COGS to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Maintain and update product cost data, including standard costs, BOMs, and routings.
  • Estimate standard costs for new products and input material and packaging costs into SAP.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and purchasing to ensure cost and routing data is accurate and aligned with production processes.
  • Support inventory management through regular cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Partner with the materials review board to evaluate and maintain reserves for obsolete or excess inventory.
  • Prepare and post journal entries; reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve outstanding items.
  • Participate in month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and data is accurate.
  • Track capital expenditures and manage project records from approval through asset retirement in SAP.
  • Conduct fixed asset audits and manage transfers from construction-in-progress (CIP) to final assets.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting, including annual standard cost development and variance analysis.
  • Prepare labor and overhead rates and allocate site-level spending to appropriate business units.
  • Document accounting procedures and internal controls to support compliance and efficiency.
  • Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-3 years of cost accounting experience
  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards
