A leading global quantitative trading firm is expanding its technology capability in Australia. The business brings together software engineers, quantitative researchers and traders to develop sophisticated systems supporting activity across global financial markets.

Role Overview:
This position will join a core trading technology group responsible for applications used throughout the front-office trading environment. You will design and develop server-side systems and desktop interfaces, partnering directly with traders, quantitative researchers and fellow engineers to deliver reliable software supporting trading analysis, market data, monitoring and real-time communication.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain business-critical C# applications used within a live trading environment.
  • Build reliable server-side services and intuitive desktop user interfaces.
  • Own projects across the full development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design through testing, deployment and production support.
  • Work directly with traders and quantitative researchers to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions.
  • Enhance systems supporting trading analytics, market and reference data, trade monitoring and real-time messaging.
  • Improve application availability, performance and maintainability through sound engineering, automation and tooling.
  • Evaluate relevant technologies and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the team's development practices.
  • Support a high-performing engineering culture through collaboration, code reviews and mentoring.
Key Requirements:
  • Strong professional experience developing applications in C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Experience with both server-side development and client-side or desktop applications.
  • Solid knowledge of object-oriented design, software architecture and application profiling.
  • Practical experience building concurrent or multithreaded systems.
  • Understanding of performance, reliability and operational considerations for business-critical applications.
  • Experience taking software through the complete development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical ability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-moving, time-sensitive environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring less-experienced engineers.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with WPF or another modern desktop user-interface framework.
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, React or TypeScript.
  • Experience deploying modern .NET applications into Linux environments.
  • Exposure to low-latency, event-driven or real-time messaging systems.
  • Previous experience in trading, financial markets or another performance-sensitive environment.
Location & Work Setup:
Sydney, Australia. The role works closely with front-office and engineering stakeholders, so regular office-based collaboration is expected. Specific flexibility can be discussed during the recruitment process.
