A global investment management firm with over $180 billion in assets under management is seeking a Business Systems Manager to join its Capital Markets Technology team. Role Summary
This role sits within the Capital Markets Technology group, supporting investment teams focused on fixed income, structured products, and public equity strategies. The successful candidate will lead initiatives related to systems and data platforms that support asset-backed finance and structured products such as CLOs, ABS, CMBS, RMBS, and residential mortgages.
The position requires a blend of business acumen and technical expertise to deliver solutions across front, middle, and back-office operations. The candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, developers, and QA teams to drive strategic projects, system enhancements, and integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Delivery
- Lead the collection and documentation of business requirements for investment operations.
- Translate complex business needs into clear technical specifications.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and system improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with investment, operations, and risk teams to align technology with business objectives.
- Communicate project updates, release notes, and roadmaps to stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison between business units and IT, balancing priorities effectively.
Vendor & Product Management
- Manage relationships with third-party software providers.
- Ensure external solutions meet internal standards and business requirements.
- Oversee release cycles and coordinate delivery across teams.
Continuous Improvement & Expertise
- Act as a subject matter expert in investment systems and fixed income workflows.
- Support platform upgrades and new system integrations.
- Promote best practices in product management, systems analysis, and governance.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in business/systems analysis within structured finance, preferably in asset management, insurance, hedge funds, or broker-dealer environments.
- Strong understanding of fixed income and structured product concepts (e.g., credit analytics, trade flow, exposure reporting, cash projections).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver business-facing technology solutions.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Proficiency in project tracking and release management tools.
Preferred
- Familiarity with structured finance analytics platforms (e.g., Intex, Yield Book, Trepp).
- Experience with portfolio management systems (e.g., Aladdin, Bloomberg AIM/PORT) and insurance ALM tools (e.g., Clearwater).
- Understanding of asset-level data in structured products.
- Prior experience as a product owner.
- Technical skills in SQL, Excel, Python, or BI/reporting tools.
