VP Compliance Advisory (m/w/d)
We are supporting a leading European markets institution seeking a VP Compliance Advisory professional to join their Frankfurt office. This individual will act as the on‑the‑ground compliance advisor for the German business, providing credible challenge to senior front‑office stakeholders, navigating German regulatory expectations, and contributing to ECB‑related remediation activities. The broader EU compliance team is cohesive, supportive, and highly collaborative, with regular cross‑entity interaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day compliance advisory to front‑office markets teams, offering clear, pragmatic guidance while effectively challenging local senior stakeholders.
- Interpret and apply MaRisk, MaComp, and WpHG requirements within trading and sales workflows, ensuring the German regulatory rulebook is properly embedded in processes, policies, and decisions.
- Lead regulatory interaction with BaFin and the Deutsche Bundesbank, coordinating responses, inspections, information requests, and follow‑ups.
- Take an active role in ECB remediation projects, ensuring sustainable implementation of required enhancements across control frameworks, governance, monitoring, and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the broader EU compliance team to harmonise standards and ensure consistency across entities.
- Identify control gaps; enhance policies, monitoring frameworks, and reporting; support surveillance uplift; contribute to regulatory change awareness and internal training.
- Support cross‑entity projects, central compliance initiatives, and routine team catch‑ups.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in compliance advisory or 2LoD roles within German investment banking, securities, or markets environments.
- Strong working knowledge and hands‑on experience with MaRisk, MaComp, and WpHG.
- Experience handling regulatory engagement with BaFin and the Bundesbank.
- Experience contributing to or leading remediation initiatives, ideally related to ECB supervisory actions.
- Confident, assertive communication style suited to challenging senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes.
- Comfortable working within a cross‑border EU compliance structure with frequent coordination across multiple regulatory regimes.
- Fluent German and English.
