About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established and growing specialty insurance organization seeking a Senior Transportation Underwriter to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly respected platform focused on transportation risks while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote position based in Texas.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong transportation underwriting background, experience working within the wholesale or specialty insurance market, and the ability to independently manage and grow a profitable book of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal transportation accounts in accordance with company guidelines and profitability objectives
- Analyze submissions, evaluate exposures, and determine appropriate pricing, terms, and conditions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and agency partners
- Grow and manage a profitable transportation portfolio through strategic underwriting decisions
- Negotiate coverage, pricing, and structure with broker partners
- Monitor account performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Stay current on transportation market trends, competitive intelligence, and emerging risks
- Collaborate with underwriting leadership, claims, and operations teams to support overall business objectives
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial transportation underwriting experience
- Experience underwriting transportation risks within the wholesale, E&S, specialty, MGA, MGU, or brokerage market
- Strong knowledge of auto liability, physical damage, motor carrier operations, and transportation-related exposures
- Proven ability to manage broker relationships and generate profitable new business
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Demonstrated success in managing a profitable book of transportation business
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Preferred Background
- Wholesale underwriting experience highly preferred
- Existing broker relationships within Texas and surrounding markets
- Experience working with trucking, fleet, logistics, or transportation-focused programs
- Background within an MGA, MGU, wholesaler, specialty carrier, or E&S platform

Candidates must currently reside in Texas. Travel may be required on an occasional basis for broker meetings, industry events, and team functions.
