Structuring Associate
Job Description: Structuring Associate - Innovations Team
Overview:
The Innovations team is a lean, entrepreneurial group focused on driving strategic growth through new markets, product launches, and complex structuring initiatives. We identify and execute transactions that expand the company's capabilities, including reinsurance arrangements, risk-transfer solutions, and innovative liability structures. This role offers exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, including legal, risk, actuarial, investments, and finance.
Why This Role Matters:
We are seeking a highly analytical, detail-oriented Structuring Associate to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, designing bespoke financial structures, and managing transactions from concept to execution. The role involves structuring reinsurance deals, supporting new business launches, and creating innovative solutions that align with balance sheet objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead execution of complex structuring transactions, including reinsurance, capital markets, and risk-transfer deals, from initial design through documentation and implementation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (legal, actuarial, risk, finance, investments) and external partners (intermediaries, counterparties, institutional investors) to achieve transaction goals.
- Design new liability and capital structures, considering risk, return, duration management, FX exposure, and regulatory/accounting implications.
- Prepare transaction materials: memos, term sheets, presentations, and marketing content for internal committees and external counterparties.
- Negotiate documentation and coordinate closing checklists, insurance product filings, and compliance requirements.
- Support strategic initiatives such as launching new business lines, entering new markets, and structuring innovative insurance products for consumers and institutions.
- Maintain awareness of competitive, regulatory, and market trends in global insurance and reinsurance.
- Build strong cross-functional influence and relationships across the organization.
What We're Looking For:
- 3-5 years of experience in structuring, deal execution, or transaction management within investment banking, private credit, insurance/reinsurance, or related financial services.
- Strong understanding of complex financial structures and willingness to learn specialized topics (e.g., reinsurance mechanics, regulatory frameworks).
- Solid analytical and financial modeling skills; familiarity with actuarial or capital modeling is a plus.
- Experience working with legal, documentation, and risk teams on transaction execution.
- Ability to synthesize detailed subject matter into actionable insights and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and managing multiple priorities.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
Preferred Background:
- Exposure to high-grade private credit, esoteric ABS, or structured finance.
- Experience in deal-making and cross-functional coordination.
- Mindset suited for complex problem-solving and building new business capabilities.
