Senior Software Engineer (C++) | Amsterdam
Our client, a leading global trading firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (C++) to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and maintaining the low-latency infrastructure that powers real-time trading across global markets.
This is a hands-on role focused on developing highly optimized, performance-critical systems where speed, reliability, and scalability are paramount. You'll work on complex engineering challenges across market data, order routing, distributed systems, networking, and core platform infrastructure, helping to shape technology that operates at the heart of a global trading environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize high-performance applications using modern C++
- Build and maintain low-latency, high-availability trading infrastructure
- Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability across a global platform
- Work on networking, messaging systems, market data, and real-time data processing
- Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks at both application and system level
- Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and quantitative teams to deliver innovative solutions
- Take ownership of critical systems and contribute to architectural and technical decisions
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++17/20/23)
- Proven experience building high-performance, low-latency, or real-time systems
- Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and hardware/software interaction
- Deep Linux knowledge and experience working close to the operating system
- Experience with networking, socket programming, and performance optimization
- Familiarity with STL, Boost, and systems-level development
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills
