Senior Credit Risk Strategy Analyst

I'm currently working with a consumer lending firm that's hiring a Credit Risk Strategy Analyst to join their digital team. This is a high-impact role within a fast-growing digital lending program, offering direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape strategy across underwriting, fraud, and portfolio optimization. You'll be responsible for developing and executing underwriting strategies across acquisition channels, optimizing pricing and line assignments, and enhancing credit risk across both online and branch portfolios.

Ideal candidates will have 3-5+ years of experience in credit risk management, hands-on experience developing acquisition or underwriting strategies, strong technical skills in Python and SQL, and a solid understanding of consumer lending regulations. Experience with fraud strategy or bank transaction data is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute underwriting strategies across acquisition channels, including approval/decline logic, line assignment, and pricing optimization
  • Monitor and enhance credit risk performance across digital and branch portfolios
  • Build and maintain predictive models using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and SAS
  • Design and evaluate tests to improve volume and risk trade-offs
  • Prepare and present risk reports and strategic insights to executive stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment with policies, procedures, and funding strategies
  • Lead projects and mentor junior team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Finance, Engineering)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in credit risk management, including underwriting/acquisition strategy development
  • Strong technical skills in Python and SQL; experience with R or SAS is a plus
  • Deep understanding of consumer lending regulations and risk principles
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex analytics into actionable strategy
  • Experience in fraud strategy or bank transaction data is preferred
