Private Equity Senior Associate

A Charlotte-based private equity firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its growing investment team. The firm focuses on investing in lower middle-market businesses across a variety of industries, partnering closely with management teams to drive operational improvements, execute strategic initiatives, and accelerate long-term growth.

This role offers the opportunity to work across all phases of the investment lifecycle, including transaction execution, financial analysis, due diligence, portfolio company oversight, and value creation initiatives. The Senior Associate will collaborate closely with senior investment professionals in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and take on a high level of responsibility from day one.

Senior Associate Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of combined investment banking, private equity, or relevant transaction experience.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with management teams and external advisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Prior private equity experience preferred.

Senior Associate Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new investment opportunities through industry research, market analysis, and detailed financial modeling.
  • Lead and support due diligence processes, coordinating with third-party advisors and preparing investment committee materials.
  • Develop and maintain operating models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials.
  • Work directly with portfolio company management teams to support strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Monitor portfolio company performance and contribute to value creation efforts across the portfolio.
  • Assist with transaction execution, including acquisitions, recapitalizations, and exit processes.
  • Contribute to the firm's collaborative, hands-on culture and ongoing investment sourcing efforts.
