Principal Cloud Engineer
Our client is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership across cloud and platform engineering initiatives within a large-scale product environment.
This is a senior individual contributor position for an engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, influencing technical direction, and mentoring engineering teams while remaining hands-on with technology.
You will play a key role in architectural decision-making, platform evolution, and cloud strategy, helping engineering teams build scalable, reliable, and well-engineered solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural and cloud infrastructure decisions.
- Evaluate technical trade-offs and guide teams towards the best solutions.
- Drive platform, cloud, and infrastructure improvements.
- Influence engineering standards and best practices across teams.
- Mentor and support engineers in their technical growth.
- Partner with stakeholders to align technical decisions with business objectives.
- Take ownership of complex engineering challenges from concept through production.
- Help shape the long-term technical direction of the platform.
Requirements
- 7+ years focused on either Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Strong experience with Azure and/or AWS.
- Proven experience operating and evolving production cloud platforms.
- Ability to make and justify architectural decisions.
- Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, and infrastructure design.
- Experience influencing technical direction beyond your immediate team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to mentor engineers and raise technical standards across the organization.
