A growing energy trading company in Amsterdam is looking for a Medior Software Engineer to join its technology team. This role offers the opportunity to build and improve business-critical applications used across trading and operational functions while gaining exposure to a fast-paced commercial environment.
You'll work closely with experienced engineers and business stakeholders to deliver software solutions that have a direct impact on the organisation's success.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance internal applications and services
- Build scalable backend systems and web-based applications
- Collaborate with traders, analysts, and other business teams to understand requirements
- Contribute to software design, testing, and code reviews
- Help improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Support deployment and operational processes where required
Requirements
- 3-6 years of commercial software engineering experience
- Strong experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C#, or another modern programming language
- Experience building and maintaining production applications
- Good understanding of software engineering best practices
- Experience working with databases and APIs
- Ability to work in a collaborative and fast-moving environment
DevOps Exposure
This role is primarily focused on software engineering, but we're looking for someone who has some exposure to DevOps practices, such as:
- CI/CD pipelines
- Docker and containerisation
- Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Monitoring and observability tools
- Infrastructure automation or scripting
Nice to Have
- Experience within energy trading, commodities, finance, or other real-time environments
- Linux experience
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, or Infrastructure as Code
- Experience supporting cloud-based applications
