A global multi‑strategy investment firm is expanding its U.S. technology leadership and is hiring a Senior Manager of Market Data Engineering to oversee the buildout of next‑generation market data infrastructure supporting world‑class quantitative research and trading.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of an enterprise market data platform used across multiple asset classes, where you'll lead a team responsible for real‑time data capture, normalization, derivation, historical data management, and high‑performance distribution to researchers, trading systems, and downstream applications.
The ideal candidate has deep experience building and managing market data engineering teams, strong hands‑on systems development expertise, and a passion for low‑latency, high‑reliability distributed data systems. You'll partner closely with front office, trading, and technology leadership to engineer scalable, resilient, and high‑fidelity market data services critical to systematic and discretionary strategies.
Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience leading market data engineering or market data infrastructure teams
* Strong systems‑level development skills, ideally with deep C++ experience
* Expertise with exchange feed handlers from major global venues and familiarity with leading data consolidators
* Hands-on experience building real‑time and historical market data pipelines supporting multi‑asset quantitative strategies
* Strong understanding of exchange protocols including FIX, ITCH, OUCH, and similar direct‑feed standards
* Familiarity with packet capture tools (e.g., Wireshark) and low‑latency networking concepts (TCP/IP, multicast, kernel bypass, hardware acceleration)
* Solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals, data quality, and data governance
* Strong leadership, team‑building, and cross‑functional communication skills
* Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Responsibilities:
* Lead a team responsible for real‑time and historical market data ingestion, normalization, derivation, and distribution across the firm
* Architect and build scalable platforms for delivering high‑quality market data to internal users and systems
* Oversee development of real‑time processing engines (NBBO, bars, derived metrics) across global venues and asset classes
* Manage the buildout of direct‑feed integrations and connections to major exchanges and data platforms
* Ensure reliable data capture through network pipelines, packet capture, and messaging systems
* Develop and scale a Market Data Management function overseeing data governance, quality, lineage, and stewardship
* Collaborate closely with trading, quant research, and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and deliver best‑in‑class data services
